Once you’ve downloaded a free trial of Ableton and a free demo song from our website, you’re ready to try the tracks in rehearsal. Now, ultimately we recommend using an audio interface like the Presonus Firebox to run your tracks from the stage sending out your tracks in stereo (left and right) and sending a click track to your musicians through your choice of in-ear configuration. But, for an initial demo of the concept in rehearsal, here is a mono approach to the tracks that does not require an audio interface.
- Step 1 of 6
-

Watch the training videos to learn how to open the Ableton file on your Mac or PC computer. Once the song is open pan the click track to the left and the rest of the tracks to the right.
- Step 2 of 6
-

-
1/8"
to 1/4" Audio Cable
- Step 3 of 6
-

If you don’t have a in-ear system like an Aviom system, please read the first recommendation on our training page under for a short term solution for wired in ears through a headphone preamp.
- Step 4 of 6
-

The left cable will be playing the click and the right cable will have all the instruments. This mix can be labeled “tracks” on the sound board and just mix it in the house and monitors accordingly. Remember to mute the instruments you don’t need in your mix in Ableton.
- Step 5 of 6
-

If this is your first time acclimating some or all of your musicians to a click track, expect that there may be an adjustment. Have a little patience though because the payoff is incredible. When playing with a click the band can relax and let the objective-time-keeper do the work and your whole team will lock in tighter than ever before. You’ll sound like the original as you play with parts from the original and you really can relax and allow the bed of tracks to support and fill in certain places. Most importantly, encourage all who can to listen to the click and before you know it... you won’t even know it’s there - and you’ll never want to play without a click again.
- Step 6 of 6
-

For those who want to start with a click and a “loop” you can download our loop tracks which are just the rhythmic/percussive loop that will repeat a rhythmic pattern and the band plays on top of it. Great for kicking off high energy songs like “Majestic” from Lincoln Brewster, but really nice to layer in - maybe on the second verse of a worship song like “Your Name.” You can see further instruction on using loops in our training section.
